red bull soloq box and medal
2020
This gift set is a reward given to the 50 participants of the Red Bull SoloQ competition, which could not take place in 2020 due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Imagining an architectural frame for the logo, here seen as a title; was the starting point of our reflection to create this visual.
Like the video game around which the competition is organized: League of Legends, it is from ancient shrines and other temples intended for divinities that we took our inspiration from to draw this scene.
On the top of the box, frescos, sculptures and architectural structures mingle. Colonnades, vaults and a profusion of ornaments cover almost every inch of available surface.
Here, on the two interior pediments, the frescos recount the exploits of former heroes. The two knights that adorn the colonnades act as guardians. They are inspired by the qualifying trophies that we had made for the previous competition. As is the case for the winged bull head; one of the emblems of the event carved on the trophy of the Red Bull Player One final, which is featured here at the top center of the illustration.
When opening the box, a pop-up rises. Depicting a scene, in which warriors fight in the wilderness. These warriors fighting in the air and mastering the elements are heroes loosely based on the video game.
It is to conjure up the spirit of battle and the duality that this competition and the video game are based upon that we have created this pop-up. On each of the three scenes, two heroes face each other off.
It is in oriental art, and mainly in Chinese drawings, paintings and prints that we drew our inspiration to design this pop-up.
After looking at the latter, it is by lifting the board that we discover, inside the box, the rest of the rewards for the winners, including a medal that we also designed for the competition.
