Blast R6 Manchester Major Trophy 2024

This trophy was specially created for the BLAST R6 Manchester Major international E-Sport tournament, which took place in Manchester, England, in May 2024. Centered around the tactical shooter game Rainbow Six Siege, the event was orchestrated by BLAST in partnership with Ubisoft.

During this event, we were asked to design this trophy in the form of a bust in line with the operators represented in previous tournaments. Deimos, an iconic character from the game Rainbow Six, was the highlight of this edition.

In the game, Gerald Morris, aka “Deimos,” is an attack operator and a former member of the Rainbow team. This operator has become an international terrorist.

In ancient Greek, Δεῖμος / Deîmos means terror. In Greek mythology, Deimos is one of the sons of Ares, the god of war, who also embodies terror. The idea was to highlight the terrifying nature of the character through his representation.

Deimos’ dark side is already conveyed through the choices made in his physical appearance and clothing design. Dressed in black with his death mask, he expresses desolation.

For this occasion, the BLAST and Ubisoft teams had already decided to depict him revealing his entrails, thus emphasizing the character’s destructive and terrifying psychology in a portrayal where he appears to fear no pain.

Given creative freedom in his presentation, we used a visual allegory to bring an additional surreal and symbolic aspect to this trophy, adding depth to his representation. Amidst this cracked and broken body, it is not viscera that are revealed, but a rain of ammunition pouring onto the base. By proposing to replace viscera with bullets, this visual association symbolically exposes and accentuates the warrior and murderous nature of this character, who is a symbol and proponent of terror.
